Technical Automation Architect

Since the landscape is really too complex to manage the traditional way, it is our strategy to transform our R&D IT design infrastructure into “software-defined datacenters”. This transformation entails a different way of work and a different mind-set (DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering) to ensure that our IT services are reliable.

That’s why we are looking for a Technical Automation Architect? to strengthen the Automation platform team that are automating our IT landscape, so that we can manage it with best practices from software engineering (test driven development,  CI/CD pipelines, pair programming) and offer the IT services with the reliability which is required by our chip hardware design community.

The DevOps Automation Team at the High Tech Campus: where it all happens.

NXP IT has great ambitions, namely: moving HW design to the cloud (AWS), running our IT infrastructure as code, and adopting CICD pipelines by all IT teams. The DevOps Automation Platform team has a central role supporting 300+ IT support engineers world-wide to deliver their services completely automated, and using CICD pipelines. HW design work loads are optimized by the use of best practices from DevOps, and the Automation Platform plays a central role in this.

The Automation Platform is a tool box offering, and integrating technologies like GitLab, Ansible, RedHat Satellite, ServiceNow, Jira, Salt Stack, and Splunk. This way, IT teams can take end-to-end responsibility of their services, and run them in a true Agile mind set.

Our Team is located in Eindhoven, and consists of young people who are passionate about technology. They like to work from a growth mind set, and look continuously to rigorously improve themselves, and their services.

Your responsibilities as a Technical Automation Architect:

• Work with R&D IT teams to understand their requirements

• Translate requirements into Proof of concepts, designs, and working solutions

• Drive the Automation roadmap for R&D IT

• Create solution designs together with the team in alignment with System Architecture

• Work with tool vendors to understand their technology roadmaps

• Align with R&D IT architects

• Support the Automation Platform Team with a vision and a future direction

• Be the “right-hand” of the Product Owner

We are looking for a Technical Automation Architect with the following characteristics:

• A Master degree with around 5 years of relevant experience

• Experience with Git, Ansible, RedHat Satellite, Salt, Python, Docker, and AWS

• A believer and evangelist of DevOps, CI/CD, and Cloud

• An outgoing personality, who likes to connect with other people and teams

• Setting things into motion and inspiring to others

• Passion for automation and application development

• Eager to learn new things and not afraid of a technical challenge

• Experience in architecting IT infrastructure solutions

• Great communication skills (English and preferably also Dutch)
